Born in a small city in Iran that is rarely pictured on globes, Asal Takesh moved to the United States at only six months old. She values her family and culture deeply—often attempting to incorporate parts of her cultural identity in every piece of art she explores. Growing up in an Iranian household, Asal speaks English, Farsi, and Azeri, having already valued the power of the performing arts when breaking through cultural and linguistic barriers from a young age.
She is a recent high school graduate from the San Francisco Bay Area and is eager to pursue a professional career in the theatre arts. She is also a proud member of the American Conservatory Theater’s Youth Conservatory in San Francisco and has performed in a number of productions at the beloved Throckmorton Theatre. Some of her favorite roles include Eponiné from Les Misérables, Morticia from The Addams Family, and Rusty from Footloose. Asal is passionate about writing and producing her own music, enjoys reading and writing poetry, and exploring racial equity within the industry from an analytical research lens.
Moving forward, she is also looking to further explore screen acting and continue enhancing her vocal technique. Her plans for the fall of 2022 include attending NYU Tisch School of the Arts to begin her preliminary training at the Playwrights Horizons Theater School, ultimately towards completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drama.
